Creating a virtual tour of ByteDance’s birthplace, Jin Qiu Jiayuan, was more than a technical task—it was a cultural challenge. The experience needed to go beyond a standard guide app, capturing the spirit of “Always Day 1” while serving both on-site visitors and remote employees. How could we craft something that wasn’t just functional, but also inspiring, immersive, and worthy of ByteDance’s innovative reputation?

Compounding this was the lack of historical media and the need to showcase ByteDance’s proprietary technology in a meaningful way. From reimagining the founding story with limited archival materials to creating a digital experience that embodied the company’s culture of agility, humility, and innovation, the project demanded creativity, precision, and a bold rethinking of what a virtual tour could achieve.

We transformed the Jin Qiu Jiayuan tour into an immersive storytelling experience that brought ByteDance’s founding story to life. Centered on a 360-degree virtual tour, users could explore the apartment room by room, uncovering interactive objects that revealed key moments from the company’s history. To overcome limited archival materials, we developed a distinctive illustration style, using animations to make the space dynamic and engaging.

Guided by ByteSpark, an intelligent virtual tour guide powered by ByteDance’s StreamVoice technology, users experienced the story through audio, text, and video, creating a multi-dimensional journey. By combining immersive design, cutting-edge technology, and a focus on ByteDance’s culture of innovation, we turned Jin Qiu Jiayuan into more than a virtual tour—it became a celebration of “Always Day 1.”
